The Steve Zimmerman Memorial Bike Ride Tour will tour the latest redevelopments of industrial properties in southwest Rockford.  Steve inspired these informational bike tours 15 years ago. It has become an annual tradition. The bike tour is Saturday, August 12 and starts at 8am. The tour leader is Architect, Gary Anderson.

Please note this tour will begin at the parking lot of the Embassy Suites Hotel at the southwest corner of South Main St. and Cedar St.

This tour will provide a look into Rockford’s industrial history and what is occurring to repurpose and reinvent these structures to new uses. Structures include the Bartlett and Shumway Seed Buildings, the Avon Street Redevelopment, a stop at Tinker Cottage, and Nelson Knitting.

The tour will continue to the Barber Colman site to see the planning that is occurring with the redevelopment of Colman Yards. The last stop will look at the construction underway for the redevelopment of the former Eclipse Brass Works into the Water Power Lofts residential units.

The tour will be an hour and 45 minutes.
