Directions
to Rockford's Downtown River District
The River District is at the heart of downtown Rockford, Illinois.
Rockford is located in north central Illinois, 20 minutes from
the Wisconsin border. The
River District boundaries are (East: Longwood Ave.; West: Kilburn Ave.; North:
Whitman St (Westside), Y Blvd. (Eastside); South: Union Pacific Railroad.
From
the West
(Dubuque, IA; Galena, Freeport) - Take Highway 20
East to downtown
From
the Southwest
(Quad Cities) - Take 88 East to 39 North to
By-Pass 20 West. Take the Alpine Road exit and travel north
to E. State Street. Turn left (west) onto E. State Street
and continue to downtown Rockford.
From
the East
(Chicago, Elgin, Marengo and other Chicago
suburbs) - Take 90 West to Business 20/E. State Street Exit.
Travel west on E. State Street and continue all the way downtown.
From
the South
(DeKalb, Rochelle, southern Illinois) - Take
39 North to By-Pass 20 West. Take the Alpine Road exit and travel
north to E. State Street. Turn left (west) onto E. State Street
and continue to downtown Rockford.
From
the North
(Madison, Janesville, Beloit, WI) - Take 90
East to Business 20 /E. State Street Exit. Turn right and follow
State Street to downtown.
From
the Northeast
(Miwaukee, Lake Geneva or Delevan, WI) - Use
43 South to 90 East and exit at Business 20/E. State Street.
Turn right (west) and take State Street to downtown.
Other
Northeast Directions
(Poplar Grove, Harvard, some Chicago suburbs)
- Take 173 West to Alpine Road and turn left (south). Take Alpine
Road to E. State Street, turn right (west) onto State Street,
and follow it to downtown.
