ROCKFORD, Illinois – The River District Association is pleased to announce two local charities are the first ever recipients of Fall for Rockford’s “Fall for Giving” program. Organizations that provided a certain number of volunteers for the family-friendly, free-admission concert festival were eligible to receive a portion of the proceeds raised by the River District Association at the event, which was held Saturday, September 22, in downtown’s historic River District.
The Epilepsy Foundation North/Central Illinois and The Parks Kiwanis Club of Rockford were awarded $500 each for their participation in the new annual festival. Both organizations provided numerous members to help the River District Association Board of Directors with serving beverages, monitoring the Kids Zone and much more.
“This donation we received will go toward funding our college scholarships and leadership training opportunities for kids in the community,” said Ted Plum, Past President of The Parks Kiwanis Club.
“We’re so thankful to these organizations for helping us at Fall for Rockford,” said Missy Minnaert, River District Association Executive Director. “Without the help of volunteers, the festival would never have been as much of a success as it was.”
