ROCKFORD, Illinois – The River District Association is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors. Lauren Jones and Matt Schmid joined the organization in its mission to unite, advocate and promote efforts to create a thriving business and residential community in Rockford’s downtown River District. Both received unanimous approval from the Board of Directors in recent meetings.

Jones grew up in central Illinois and has lived in Rockford since 2014. With a degree in communication from Northern Illinois University, she has worked in various marketing roles within the engineering field. She recently began working for Ipsen, an industrial furnace manufacturer. Jones is also a downtown resident who sees huge potential in this small, big city, and finds joy in helping make a difference.

“The culture and uniqueness of Rockford is what attracted me here,” said Jones. “The evolution of downtown is what has kept me here.”

Originally from the North Side of Chicago, Matt Schmid moved to Rockford with his wife and family in 2008. He currently is a marketing manager at SupplyCore. His career spans marketing roles in manufacturing, retail, ecommerce and business services. He specializes in digital marketing and the latest B2B marketing technology and methods.

As an RDA board member, Schmid will focus on the increasing marketing needs of the organization. This includes keeping the downtown businesses informed as well as promoting RDA events across the calendar year.

“The businesses, organizations and people of the River District are generating the momentum necessary to attract an even broader base– that has yet to reach its full potential,” said Schmid.
