ROCKFORD, Illinois  – The River District Association board of directors is pleased to announce Missy Minnaert as the new Executive Director of the River District Association. Minnaert is a Rockford native that is well-known in the philanthropy community as a generous contributor of her time and resources.

“This is a huge honor,” said Minnaert. “I’ve always called Rockford home and love being part of this great community.”

Minnaert has embraced the role of community volunteer and mother for the last 22 years. In that time, she has raised three children (one a current high school junior); been a tutor with Rockford Public Schools; an advocate for Big Brothers Big Sisters; has been involved with fundraising for the Northern Illinois Hospice Association; is a founding board member of Santa for Solitary Seniors; an event coordinator for RPS 205 Girl’s Night Out; and has helped with many other charities important to the backbone of the Rockford community.

“We are blessed to have her on our team,” said Sean Muserallo, River District Association Board President. “Missy came to this organization at the right time. We needed someone who has a strong connection to the community and an unrelenting passion for progress downtown. In her, we have both.”

Minnaert takes over after the previous Executive Director Leah Tuneberg stepped aside in February to spend more time with her family.

“Leah did a tremendous job getting the group where it is today,” said Minnaert. “I look forward to keeping the River District Association headed down a successful path.”

Minnaert’s part-time position started in April. Her first priority is to engage all current River District Association members and prospective supporters. She can be reached by email at
