ROCKFORD, IL March 21, 2018 – Downtown business owners hope to melt your hearts this
weekend with the deals they have in store for you during the inaugural Melt the Blocks. The
special retail event is to enhance the experience for people coming to Meltfest this Saturday.
“We have about a dozen businesses discounting everything from pizzas to clothes to gifts,” said
Rebecca Nunes, the Marketing Chair of the River District Association.

This is the fifth year of Meltftest, Rockford’s free, family-friendly festival. It takes place in
downtown and at Prairie Street Brewhouse. There will be a wide range of family-friendly
activities including: ice skating, live music, magic and science shows and so much more.
“Lots of fun is going to be happening in downtown Rockford this Saturday,” said Brian Huels,
Co-Organizer of the Meltfest volunteer committee. “So we figured why not add something else
to get people out and about and partner with the River District Association for Melt the Blocks.”
Participating businesses will have Melt the Blocks signs in their storefronts. One of those will be
the Rockford Art Deli.

“We’re giving people 15% off any purchase over $30 or more this Saturday,” said Jarrod Hennis,
the co-owner of the Rockford Art Deli. “It’s the first Saturday of Spring, and we all can’t wait for
T-shirt weather anyway.”
